Although I'm sure the point of this is to not become an overly simplistic 'speak and spell' I'd like to think that the 'basic' parts of speech should be described, at first, with basic terms. What is a noun? A noun is word that names ''some thing''; a person, a place, a quality, a thing, or an idea.

The definition given here now, although accurate, is not easily understood.

This being my first post I don't think I have the right to go around changing other peoples works herein but would like to at least provide a suggestion for this:

A noun is word that names ''some thing''; a person, a place, a quality, or an object.

I think the current formulation is simple and precise enough. This is what Glottopedia is unlike Wikipedia: If you read the third bullet in [Glottopedia:About], you will see that Glottopedia shall be inteligible for linguists, not for ordinary people. But I don't want to discourage you to modify the present articles. If you think you can make them better, make them better! Other members, admins and editors in chief will decide whether to revert to the old version or not.
