The term stratum has multiple meanings in linguistics:
- stratum (in hitorical linguistics): a language that has had a contact influence on another language, e.g. substratum, superstratum
- stratum (in relational grammar): a level of syntactic analysis
- stratum (in Sydney Lamb's approach)
