In phonology, a mid vowel is a vowel that is produced with the tongue at a level intermediate between high and low vowels.
Examples
- Close mid: [e], [ø], [ɘ], [ɵ], [ɤ], [o]
- Mid: [ə]
- Open mid: [ɛ], [œ], [ɜ], [ɞ], [ʌ], [ɔ]
