Subordinating conjunction

The term subordinating conjunction is an older term for subordinator. (In older usage, it can be defined as a conjunction that marks a subordinate clause.)
Comments
The reason this term was largely given up by linguists is that it was felt that subordinators and coordinators do not really form a natural class of phenomena that could be called conjunctions.
