Cross-categorial operators

In generative syntax, cross-categorial operators are logical operators, such as conjunction and disjunction, that can occur with almost any syntactic category.

Examples

The examples show some of the categories that and can occur with.

NP + NP:		John and his friends
AP + AP:		tall and strong
VP + VP:		walk and talk
AdvP + AdvP:		here and there
PP + PP:		in the house and around the house
AP + PP:		generous and with grace
