Sentence is a very basic grammatical term that stands for the largest unit of grammar. When several sentences are combined, a text (a non-grammaatical entity) results. A sentence consists of one or more clauses.
Polysemy
The term sentence is also commonly used in the same sense as clause; see sentence (i.e. clause).
