The term category can refer to

• an inflectional category-system such as case, number, tense, voice; see category (system)
• an inflectional category such as nominative, plural, pluperfect, passive
• a syntactic category, i.e. a part of speech such as noun, verb, adjective
• a conceptual category; see category (in cognition)
