Lexical component is a term used for one autonomous part or module of the grammar, viz. the module where the word formation rules and the (lexical) phonological rules are applied. The words derived in the lexical component are inserted into the syntactic component, and the postlexical component. Another term used for the lexical component is Lexicon.
